program of the Portland Chapter of the
American Rhododendron Society

Beatrix Farrand,
Landscape Gardener

Presented by
Marlene Salon

THE SEPTEMBER MEETING starts another season of Portland Chapter's regular monthly meetings.
Come listen, visit and eat cookies with a great group of plant lovers.

Beatrix Farrand was a Twentieth Century landscape gardener and designer. Some of her works were installed at Yale and P{rinceton Universities and the WHite House. She also designed the gardens at some large (read rich) estates in the Eastern US. The design drawings of her works have been preserved at Berkeley, and are still available for study.

Marlene Salon is a landscape architect who specialises in garden design. Some of her own work can be seen in our own Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. Her presentation about Ms. Farrand's works will include a slide show.

NOTE THE CHANGE FROM THE USUAL ROUTINE
This meeting will end with the SPECIES AUCTION. The auction usually is in October, but this time, due to scheduling conflicts, it will be held in September! By species, we mean rhododendron and azalea species, of course.
