The most practical way of increasing the number of rhododendrons (or even non-0rhododendron vegetative matter) is via cuttings. Knowledge on this details of this process greatly increases the success rate for rooting cuttings. This is a procedure that can be followed by anyone that has a garden where the resulting plants can find a home.

There will be a CUTTING EXCHANGE following the meeting. If you have some special rhododendrons that you would like to give to someone else, bring 2 or 3 cuttings in a sandwich bag (or several sandwich bags full of cuttings) and exchange them for someone else's cuttings. Put into practice what you learn in tonight's informative meeting.

Mike Stewart owns Dover Nursery, specialising in rhoodendrons, most of which are produced from cuttings. Mike is the Past President of the American Rhododendron Society.

Kathy Van Veen is the third generation owner of Van Veen Nursery, whose rhododendrons are shipped all over the world. She is Past President of the Portland Chapter of the ARS
