AN UNIDENTIFIED SLIME MOLD
Almost all the plasmodiums among the Myxomycetes look similar. Identification is made during the sporing period or not at all.

This one was not identified at the time of it’s appearance.

The sporangia are visible in cracks in the bark	This patch was near the base of the stump. Moss surrounded the base of the stump	This is an enlargement of the previous picture, showing a spider mite in better detail	These bugs were common on the fruiting body. They move fast.
